I'm going to be transparent with you because you deserve to know what to expect when you go to Japan. It isn't the most luggage friendly especially in train stations. There are so many people that have big suitcases and stress out about how to get them upstairs to the train along with a stroller and kids!
If that is or might be you, pay attention! You have to look up takuhaibin or takkyubin services! They are luggage delivery services that are widely available, convenient, and affordable. They'll deliver quickly to your next destination so you can travel with ease - whether it is a hotel, AirBnB, friend's home, or even the airport! The most popular ones are Kuroneko and Sagawa.
